The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), has unveiled plans for its 75th Anniversary celebration, announcing the official theme, commemorative logo, anniversary cloth and a year-long programme of activities to mark the milestone.
The celebrations will be officially launched on June 24, 2026, under the theme, "From Excellence to Eminence: 75 Years of KNUST."

Speaking to KNUST Management at the Council Chamber, Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Professor William Otoo Ellis, said the theme emerged from extensive consultations and aligns with the University's strategic aspirations.
"We deliberated extensively on the theme for the anniversary and took into consideration the University's strategic plan and focus," he said.
According to Prof. Ellis, the theme reflects KNUST's determination to build on its tradition of excellence while positioning itself for greater global relevance, impact and leadership in higher education, research and innovation.
As part of the launch, the University will also unveil a commemorative publication documenting its history, achievements and contributions over the past seven decades.
Prof. Ellis explained that the idea for the publication was conceived during preparations for KNUST's 70th Anniversary celebrations after concerns were raised about the need for a comprehensive record of the University's growth and impact.
"We realized that so much has been done by this University, but unfortunately not much has been documented comprehensively. We therefore set out to produce a publication that captures the KNUST story and preserves its legacy for future generations," he said.
He noted that the anniversary celebrations will feature a wide range of activities beginning in June and continuing throughout the year.
These include a 75th Anniversary Inter-College Quiz Competition, radio and television documentaries highlighting KNUST's innovations and inventions, and community impact projects to be undertaken by the University's colleges.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, commended the Planning Committee for its dedication and hard work, describing the preparations as a significant step towards a memorable celebration.
"We are thrilled with the progress made so far and are looking forward to a very exciting 75th Anniversary celebration. The report confirms that we are indeed preparing to celebrate 75 solid years. The University is grateful for the commitment and hard work that has gone into this process," she said.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the committee of Management's continued support and encouraged members to promptly communicate any challenges that may arise during the planning process.
"When you realize that you have hit a wall, please quickly get back to us. Let us work together so that we are able to have a very smooth process and make the celebration as stress-free as possible," she added.
The programme will also culminate in an anniversary awards ceremony to honour distinguished alumni, staff and students whose contributions have advanced the University's mission and reputation over the years.
